Already for the 4th time the association “Austrian Water” with its members and Stadtwerke Köflach organized the “Drinking Water Day” on March 29 and March 30 at the Volksheim in Köflach.
A total of 28 elementary school classes with about 576 children participated in the event. The focus was to inform the children about the importance of drinking water and to build awareness for sustainable use of this important resource.
So far, “Drinking Water Day” has been held annually in a total of three German states since 2014 and has welcomed over 1,000 children. At this year’s event, about 560 children of the Lipizzaner homeland were offered the opportunity to participate in the “Day of Drinking Water” and the accompanying competition, in which exciting and attractive prizes were raffled.
As part of the school lessons, the children worked together with the educators in the run-up to the United Nations World Water Day on the topic of water as a foodstuff and presented their results in the form of a project work.
HAWLE-Service was represented again this time and tried with the topic “What happens without water? – after 2 hours/ days/ weeks/ months/ years” to give the children an understanding of the importance of water as a resource. The children were actively involved in the presentation and also received a small thank you for their attention and cooperation.
